The Kosmin Test

As we know there are a large number of field tests that attempt to establish an estimate of brands in certain distance, some more effective than others, although this effect obviously depends on the results to be obtained with a sufficient number of athletes valuable.

personally and specifically with middle distance runners I use Kosmin test, better known as the 2x1 for 800 and 4x1 for 1500. I use two variants and set half a posteriori.


For the 800 meters.


Option 1: The athlete runs 2 times for 1 minute at 100% with a recovery of 1 minute, is recorded the total distance traveled.

Option 2: The athlete runs 2 times for 1 minute at 100% with a recovery of 3 minutes, it counts the total distance traveled.

Both variants ground them in different and consecutive days.

For 1500 meters.

Option 1: The athlete runs 4 times for 1 minute at 100% with a decreasing recovery, 3 minutes, 2 minutes and 1 minute, contabliliza the total distance traveled.

Option 2: The athlete runs 4 times for 1 minute at 100% with a recovery of 1 minute for each minute of activity, total distance contabliliza.

Both variants soil them on different days and consecutive.

For the 800 in two variants:
Men: = 217.77778 - (Total distance traveled * 0.119559)
Women: = 217.77778 - (Total distance * 0.119559) +7

1500 For both variants:
Men: = 500.52609 - (Distance traveled total * .162174)
Women: = 500.52609 - (Total distance * 0.162174) +10

An example with the 800.

Day. Option 1.

Section 1:
distance: 375 meters.

Section 2:
distance: 355 meters.

Total distance: 730 meters.

Men's Formula (test conducted with male athlete)

217.77778 - (730 * 0.119559) = 130.5


second day. Option 2.

Section 1:
distance: 380 meters.

Section 2:
distance: 365 meters.

Total Distance: 745

Men's Formula (test conducted with male athlete)

217.77778 - (745 * 0.119559) = 135.82

establish average of both days: 130.5 + 135.8 / 2 = 133.16 sec.

The mark obtained will be: 2.13:16
