Lightscribe Color Discs Now Available

Preparing for the practical test (4 th and final part)

The last activity for the subjective analysis of the headset (a) and the solution of some possible problems that patients present (b).

a. With the supplied headphones should note the following:
- Presence and functionality of the headset has trimmers.
- subjective analysis itself.
- Conclusions from subjective analysis. B.

What is the cause and solution (modified control instrument delivered if necessary) of the following problems experienced by the patient?
- Eco's own voice.
- Voice metal.
- Vocals too strong.
- intense sounds produce discomfort or even pain.
- etc.

All these exercises (4 parts) will be included in the practical test. While the format is the same I can make small changes in variables or hearing aids, changing entirely the case. Each student raffle activities to be carried out, with 15 minutes to develop, after which I will finally calificaré questions as a guideline.
These are practical activities, although they could be used to study for the theoretical competition.
theorist will be at 9:30 in Room C-206, enter and located according to list order.

Yoga For Prolapsed Uterus

Preparing for the practical test (3 ª part):

Another activity to be included is to select the instrument best suited to the characteristics of the patient and pathology (audiological and otologic). I leave the following case as an example:

female patient, 65 years old housewife who reported having made about 7 years continuous drainage of the right ear for what is done tympanoplasty. After the operation, relates stress of hearing loss in that ear, which is implemented with a hearing aid. As to his left ear 2 years ago warning of hearing loss, however is is of lesser magnitude in the contralateral ear. It also warns constant presence of tinnitus, homologous to the sea noise and discomfort to loud sounds from the environment. The patient said the great difficulty it poses for a conversation. The instrument deployed in the right ear is of average earnings, with harmonic distortion and high battery consumption. The patient consultation due to the aforementioned problems with your hearing and can adjust the left ear. The financial resources that are available are limited.

Otoscopy:
observed in right ear drum product tympanoplasty white. In notes left ear myringosclerosis presence.

LDL (-) in right ear.
Discrimination of the word:

Right ear: 76% to 100 dB with 70 Mkg.
left ear: 92% to 75 dB.

should then choose from 3 different hearing aids that best suits the needs of the patient. This part will have sheets of headphones like these:

practical. These Preparing for the test (2 ª part):

Another activity that will assess the calibration of analog hearing aids by changing their trimmers. One of the headphones that we saw in the pilot was the brand "Miracle Ear", a medium-gain hearing aid with two controls. One of the controls change the threshold compression and the other cut the treble (high-low-pass or short).

Headset and controls:

TK Control (compression threshold) and its effects:

short sharp filter (low pass) and their effects:

Now, if the patient who wanted to adapt this instrument has the following audiometry:

How the two controls adjusted the headset features?

Heart Murmur In Puppy Ecg Cost

Preparing for the practical test:

will publish some activities that will enable them to study for the practical test will be Thursday of next week. Estes is one of the content that will assess:

digital instrument calibration:
work with Hi-Pro calibrating a hearing aid brand "Starkey", which had certain characteristics. Before calibration same income audiogram data and then select the type of circuit, which in our case was "closed mm" (in this particular brand is a multi track memory "mm"). Then we should select the prescriptive method that finally showed us the goals curves were compared with delivering the instrument.

I leave these curves we have already seen several times in the study:

Curve 1

Curve 2
Curve 3

Curve 4

would be good to try to determine that each curve represents and what are their results. Also, when analyzing these curves, we can determine the type of aid that are calibrated. I hope your questions in chat.

Practical making molds:

This workshop was made possible thanks to the efforts of Paul (3rd-year student speech therapy), the goodwill of Marcelo (Laboratory technician company headphones "American Ear") and the company even provided us pasta to make prints.

The following photos are not showing the whole process (for the space I can not show all) but if some important parts.

This photo shows the materials used in making the mold. Can be seen from the implementation needed for making prints as well as for working with cast acrylic.

marcelo This photo is polishing the mold (you make a guy called "Skeleton")

This photo shows and completing the process is cutting the plastic pipe that will connect the headset with the mold.

Shown final result BTE with its own mold.

Mold Making "live"

Tomorrow we will visit the charge of making molds of a company that sells hearing aids (for persons with hearing loss). As an activity where we will see "live" the manufacture of such implements I extend the invitation to students of 1 º and 2 º year of the race.

For students 3 the activity is required, and will also be evaluated with a report INDIVIDUAL whose value is 5% of the 3 rd grade (in the case of non-attendance will be qualified with a minimum grade).

The activity begins at 8:30 in Room C-105.

I hope to take advantage of this that it is rarely possible to observe medical students.

I hope you are well, see you tomorrow. Eduardo
