We the undersigned, journalists and media professionals, radio and television, cultural representatives and teachers and researchers in social communication from universities in Argentina, before the next visit of a delegation from the Inter American Press Association (IAPA ) , we state:
1) That the sanction of the Law on Audiovisual Communication Services is a huge step for our democracy.
2) The repeal in 2009 of the crimes of libel and slander was another important step towards the performance of our work untethered.
3) The ignorance of the law of monopolistic groups of communication is a daily threat to press freedom, as noted in Item 12 of the Declaration of Principles of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) monopolies or oligopolies in the ownership and control of the media conspire against democracy by limiting the plurality and diversity which ensure the full exercise of the right to information of citizens.
4) Who are these groups that threaten the right of the audience to exercise their full rights when they violate legal resolution 296/2010, the AFSCA, including on the grid to alternative channels to the dominant cable operator offering a as Paka -Paka, Telesur, Inca TV and CN23.
